CERHI announces a five-day workshop titled“HANDS-ON TRAINING ON BASICMOLECULAR BIOLOGY TECHNIQUES”
CERHI is a World Bank supported Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) with the mandate to build capacity for addressing the challenges related to reproductive health, population, and development of a regional laboratory capacity in the West and Central African region.
The CERHI Medical and Research Laboratory (CMARL) has initiated and continues to encourage multidisciplinary research among scientists and scholars in its network throughperiodic seminars and workshops. In line with this goal, CMARL is organizing a 5-day hands-on training on basic molecular biology and bioinformatics techniques to enhance research output.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
1- To introduce participants to ethical issues in molecular biology and genetic research
2- To introduce/improve participants’ knowledge on DNA and RNA extraction, primer design and other
pre-PCR techniques.
3- To introduce/improve participants’ knowledge on DNA amplification (PCR), reverse transcription-PCR, gene expression, and post-PCR techniques such as gel electrophoresis.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Researchers and scientists from Universities (including the World Bank Africa Centres of Excellence in West, Central and East African regions) and Research Institutions, and postgraduate students in the fields of health, science, biomedical sciences, veterinary medicine, and agriculture, are encouraged to
attend
