Learn Life-Saving Skills from the Experts The Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation (CERHI), University of Benin, successfully conducted a Nursing Simulation Training on 19 August 2026 at the CERHI Simulation Laboratory, Benin City. The training, themed “Learn Life-Saving Skills from the Experts,” focused on two essential areas of maternal and newborn healthcare: Normal Delivery of a Baby and newborn resuscitation. The practical, simulation-based programme strengthened participants’ clinical competence, confidence, teamwork, communication, decision-making, and emergency preparedness. As part of the Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation (CERHI) 's commitment to improving the skills of healthcare practitioners, the Centre Leader of CERHI, Prof. Nathaniel Inegbedion, through the simulation Committee, organized a two-day workshop for training facilitators in healthcare simulation. The training, which was held on the 29th and 30th of September, 2025, took place at the CERHI Simulation Laboratory located in the CERHI complex of the University of Benin. The group photo section of the just concluded workshop on “Research Priorities Agenda Setting in Reproductive Health”. One of the mandates of CERHI is to carry out advanced research in Reproductive health leading to products and outcomes that can be patented and commercialized. One of the key objectives of this workshop was to identify priority areas or developmental challenges in reproductive health which if investigated can lead to the discovery of key products, innovations and outcomes.

The Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation (CERHI), University of Benin, has been rated the best performing Centre in Nigeria. This follows the Centre’s achievement of the World Bank's Disbursement Linked Indicators at the ongoing West African Conference in Cotonou, Republic of Benin. The Centre Leader of CERHI, Professor Friday Okonofua, who is currently attending the Conference made the announcement, Tuesday.
